This role is a highly technical and/or specialized professional position responsible for supporting research studies by providing high quality & consistent in vivo technical research support within our multi-building, multi-discipline research program.
About the Role
Major accountabilities:
- Perform supplemental tasks in assisting the Manager and other delegated programmatic oversight duties as specified.
- Principally responsible for daily, hands-on technical in vivo research support (i.e. compound administration, blood sampling, blood/tissue collection, clinical observation, etc.).
- Routinely responsible for ensuring compliance with all institutional and regulatory protocols, policies, and guidelines.
- Routinely responsible for managing assigned research support and liaising regularly with assigned research department personnel.
- Responsible for pursing continuous learning/professional development opportunities and enhancing/expanding skill set required for the support.

- Adherence to Novartis policy and guidelines -Stakeholder or project feedback
- Provide consistent and high quality on site scientific in vivo support
- Proactively meet and exceed customer service expectations
- Effectively gain certification and proficiency on all applicable technical skills as required by the job
- Team-oriented and interactive. Supportive of peer/team development and performance
- Continuously pursue educational and professional development opportunities to enhance and expand relevant skills and knowledge
Minimum Requirements:
Work Experience:
- Caretaker certification with over 5 years experience, and Apprenticeship in Animal Caretaking or 2-year degree in Veterinary Sciences or 4-year Science degree, or an equivalent combination of experience along with higher education are desired or country specific equivalents as applicable
- Veterinary technician certification (based on location) required or country specific equivalents as applicable. E.g. LTK I or FELASA B
- ALAT Certification desirable or pursued after start, or country specific equivalents as applicable
- Excellent basic mathematic & compound dose/volume administration calculation skills
- Superior written and oral communication and data documentation skills required
- Working knowledge of federal, state, local (Animal Welfare) laws, departmental SOP’s and Good Laboratory Practices.
- Thorough understanding and comprehension of operational facts, techniques, nomenclature, equipment, theories, etc. as they relate specifically to job performance function in the laboratory animal research environment

- dedication to animal welfare while expanding both their scientific knowledge and in vivo technical skills.
- Candidates must be reliable, independent, work well in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment, and focused on attention-to-detail in providing consistent, high-quality results. Collaboration.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and move heavy objects. Must be able work from a standing position for prolonged time periods and perform repetitive motion tasks. Able to work weekends, holidays and during inclement weather.
