As Senior manager of the Lab Automation team you will lead a team in Process Analytical Sciences (PAS) at our TRD Biologics site in Schaftenau (AT).
About the Role
Your responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
• Acts as operational manager for a medium sized team
• You will be part of a team that will define and lead implementation of the global Analytical Development (AD), analytical automation strategy at the Austrian site
• Your team will develop new automation approaches to advance analytical methodologies in collaboration with the global team
• You are future oriented and contribute to the Laboratory Automated Robotics Assistance (LARA) and PAS strategies
• Your team will evaluate new equipment & new technology projects related to automation in collaboration with the global team
• Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for foundational and new Data & Digital solutions e.g. LIMS, CDS, eLN, etc. will be part of your team that drives innovation for advanced data sciences
• You will be successfully establishing and leveraging on academic and external collaboration
• You will ensure excellent collaboration with all partners and will have experts in your team for question and discussions with internal and external stakeholders
• You support capacity, facility and equipment planning to enable successful execution on Biologics portfolio
• You assure all project activities are performed in compliant way and in timely manner, meeting projects demands and timelines
• You ensure compliance of activities with quality standards Data Quality Plan (DQP), safety standards (Health & Safety Executive (HSE)) and other Novartis standards.
Minimum requirements
• Sound technical & scientific knowledge of pharmaceutical development, analytical sciences, or equivalent
• Knowledge of people management
• Leading diverse and multifunctional teams
• Knowledge on Health authority regulations
• Excellent communication, presentation and management skills
• Proficiency in oral and written English.
• Role model for unbossed, curious and inspired leadership in Novartis
Desirable requirements
• University degree (Master / PhD or equivalent) in life sciences
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in the pharmaceutical industry
• Minimum of 2 years in a leadership position with successful performance and track record of leading teams
• Experience with using and programming Liquid handling system like TECAN and Hamilton would be an advantage

In addition to a market-competitive base salary, we offer an attractive incentive program, a modern company pension scheme, childcare facilities, learning and development opportunities as well as worldwide career possibilities within the Novartis group. In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is €66,800/year (on a full-time basis). The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies.
We are open for part-time and job-sharing models and support flexible and remote working where possible.
