Zusammenfassung
Our Associate Director, Technology & Scientific Computing will play a pivotal role in a team that is embarking on the adoption and use of open-source tools for clinical trial reporting. This team have high visibility within the organization and are excited to embark on this high priority strategic initiative with an agile, user-focused mindset.
This role will blend hands on programming activities as well as aspects of Product Ownership (e.g. prioritization, actioning user feedback, sprint planning). You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team to develop solutions and tools that enable associates working on analyses and reporting activities in clinical trials. This will involve working across our organisation to gain an appreciation of the user experience today to ensure we are delivering progress in high impact areas while modernizing how we work.
About the Role
Responsibilities:
- Lead Tool Development: Develop technical products such as packages and applications that enable clinical trial teams to design and analyze clinical trials using open-source tooling within a GxP setting.
- Agile Development Leadership: Drive the agile development cycle, from gathering user requirements and prototyping to production release, demos, training, and support.
- Problem-solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead the analysis of complex problems, identify potential solutions, and implement effective outcomes.
- Promote Open-Source Culture: Foster a culture of continuous evolution and open-source development by engaging with external communities, contributing new packages/features, and undertaking maintenance and support activities.
- Continuous Improvement: Work with our community to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and modernization of our tooling.
- Mentor Team Members: Coach our community on technical topics and best practices, including R package development, agile development, and managing environments.
Requirements:
- MSc in a quantitative / computational science (e.g. compute science, machine learning, statistics, physics, mathematics)
- 5 to 10 years of experience in using open-source language/s (primarily R) to develop tools for data analytics in an industry setting.
- Strong interest in modern ways of working, including git, open source languages and applying data science principles in a GxP setting
- Experience in taking R packages from prototypes towards production standard.
- Experience in the development of applications / dashboards / websites (Shiny, JavaScript, Quarto, etc.) that can help communication complex topics (e.g. data visualization, technical training)
- Depth of knowledge in good software development practices (virtual environments, versioning, code review etc.) with experience of embedding these in the day-to-day work of a team.
- Experience in using tools like JIRA, git, virtual whiteboards to plan, collaborate and track progress.
- Solution-oriented mindset with a collaborative spirit.
- Proficiency in English (written & oral).
Desirable:
- Understanding of regulatory requirements (e.g., GxP) and computer system validation principles.
- Current or former maintainer of an open source (R/Julia/python) package implementing statistical methods
- Experience as a statistical programmer or statistician.
- Previous experience in collaborating on open-source projects within the pharmaceutical sector, such as those associated with R Consortium, pharmaverse, openpharma or openstatware.
