Summary

Location: Basel, Switzerland

Role Purpose:
Establish, maintain and improve the automation processes with respect to buildings, equipment and utilities. Provide cost-effective and efficient technical solutions, standards, strategies and act as a subject matter expert of automation and interface to IT. Support design, implementation and maintenance of automation systems in projects and site operations. Translate scientific business needs into actionable automation tasks

  • Support internal and external audits

Automation:

  • Develop & implement Coding / Recipes (DCS / Scada / PLC's / Control Networks)
  • Design, implement & maintain Historian Configuration for modules / visualization / OPEX 
  • Implement Software Change Controls associated with automation / system changes
  • Own and develop automation solutions that are consistent with specific needs of the manufacturing environment.
  • Take an active role in preparing adequate and cost effective solutions for all automation investment related projects. Leverage best practices and expertise across the Engineering network.

Operational Technology (OT):

  • Manage operations for (OT) systems, tools and applications, ensuring their stability and integrity, while meeting customer service levels.
  • Support OT systems business owner in all occurring technical topics and operate all IT/OT services, systems and applications, to monitor events that occur in the enterprise environment.
  • Ensuring that configuration items (any component that needs to be managed in order to deliver an IT/OT service) are identified, accounted, reported, verified and audited.
  • Implement / execute the end to end processes required for OT systems and Cyber security requirements.
  • Ensure that an up-to-date asset inventory for all technology assets is maintained.
  • Take accountability to ensure adherence to security and compliance policies and procedures.  

Life Cycle Management & Project Engineering:

  • Work according to standard quality processes including Change Requests, deviation investigations (including RCA), authoring/maintaining SOPs & WPs
  • Create / maintain / verify engineering documents (protocols, drawings, lists, schedules, diagrams, layouts, calculations, datasheets)
  • Perform Project Risk Assessment
  • Identify technical solutions
  • Prepare Equipment Specifications and System Requirements in project (e.g. User Requirement Specification)
  • Prepare Functional Specifications in project
  • Prepare, review and approve drawings, lists, schedules, diagrams, layouts, calculations and datasheets in project
  • Perform engineering tasks for full project lifecycle (hardware & Software), incl: FAT/ SAT, Commissioning and Qualification, maintenance, decommissioning
  • Execute work orders for projects as per method statement

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5 years of engineering experience in Automation in Chemical or Pharmaceutical industry
  • Proven in resolving software /automation problems & maintain reliable operation of all building control / automation and related systems while complying and supporting the global standards.
  • Experience in maintaining reliable operation of building automation and related systems, ensuring maximum system availability and acceptable performance.
  • Maintenance and development of building automation and related systems in adherence with global & local procedures
  • Communications skills essential.
  • Skills in C&Q within the automation (CSV).
  • Extended knowledge of GxP / HSE & Quality systems
