This program is designed to offer young talents unique insights into various areas of drug development.

About the Role

The program will offer the opportunity to collect first experience of applied peptide chemistry in the pharmaceutical environment. Rotations within CHAD Basel from synthetic labs supporting route and process development of mixed modalities to the manufacturing pilot plant, will provide a comprehensive overview on how a research idea is shaped into a market-ready drug. During these rotations, you will be exposed to current standards in safety, quality, training systems, and good manufacturing practice (GMP). You will not only be able to transfer your theoretical know-how into practice, but also to develop your soft skills and grow your internal network for your future career in the Pharmaceutical industry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and implement future manufacturing processes and strategies for peptide based Radioligand Therapies  
  • Design, plan, perform, interpret, report, and communicate experiments, their data and results
  • Support process development activities on innovative and cross-functional projects
  • Collaborate closely with our internal and external partners to ensure timely and quality GMP and non-GMP manufacture
  • Provide relevant process documentation in support of filing of dossiers
  • Participate in scientific exchange groups within and outside of Novartis as well as maintain excellent collaborations with our customers

Essential requirements:

  • A completed PhD in Synthetic chemistry or related discipline with specialization in the field of peptide synthesis, e.g., SPPS
  • Good knowledge of English (oral and written)
  • An excellent track record of original research and extensive experience in peptide chemistry
  • Purification and characterization of peptides is acknowledged
  • Good knowledge of software and computer tools (e.g., MS Office)
  • Scientific curiosity coupled with an international outlook
  • Finally, since all work takes place in multidisciplinary project teams, a track record on strong interpersonal and communication skills is required

Desirable requirements:

  • Additional German proficiency (oral and written) is a plus
  • Knowledge in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical sciences is an asset
